With no whip issued, the AIADMK MPs voted against the no-confidence motion moved by TDP in Lok Sabha on Friday while NDA ally Shiv Sena, which has a minister in Narendra Modi cabinet, boycotted the entire proceedings.
A couple of AIADMK MPs were not present in the House as they did not want to vote in favour of the BJP-led NDA. AIADMK has 37 MPs while Shiv Sena has 18 MPs.
The government managed to get 325 votes against 126 notched up by the Opposition. BJP floor managers had been claiming that it would get at least 314 votes, including Shiv Sena, of the NDA.
