Security agencies on Wednesday warned that a group of six terrorists have infiltrated into India and may carry out terror strikes on the occasion of Holi.

Police forces in Delhi, Assam and Punjab have been alerted as prominent places in these states could be under the target.

Security sources said a former Pakistani Army personnel Khurshid Alam is the leader of the group. The alert comes against the backdrop of the Islamic State attack on Brussels airport on Tuesday.

Agencies believe that the terrorists entered India between February 20 and 25. All north Indian states are on special focus of security forces as the region is celebrating Holi on Thursday. More police personnel have been deployed at Metro stations, railway stations and airports besides markets and shopping malls in Delhi.
