In a letter to Chief Minister  J Jayalalitha, the Struggle Committee of the “People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy” said they looked forward to more effective and visionary steps from her “to scrap the KNPP project once and for all.”

“We depend on your kind and effective intervention in this important matter. Your leadership qualities and visionary capabilities alone can rescue the Tamil people’s welfare and future from the clutches of the international nuclear industry and solve the country’s electricity needs through sustainable and futuristic manner,” the committee led by S P Udayakumar said in its letter faxed to the chief minister’s office in Chennai on Sunday.
The letter regretted that a 15-member Central Experts Committee appointed by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) had not replied to their queries adequately nor dispelled the Kudankulam area people’s fears.
