Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, who has visited affected areas under Vajrapukothur and Palasa blocks of Srikakulam district on Friday to have a firsthand knowledge of the extent of damage left by the Titli cyclone, said that he will be writing to the prime minister seeking assistance.

Addressing media at the Palasa municipal office, Naidu said that the Union government gave paltry amount for the recovery of Visakhapatnam when the HudHud cyclone battered the coastal city. “The extent of damage was Rs 60,000 crore and the Centre gave us peanuts,” Naidu said.

He said he would stay back in the district till things return to normalcy. “I will be here for three days and will not tell you when I will be visiting which village, better be on your toes,” Naidu warned the revenue officials. Naidu reminded them how collective effort has helped Visakhapatnam to stand on its feet following the Hudhud cyclone, four years ago.
