<p>President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday night gave his assent to the Citizenship Amendment Bill. </p>.<p>A gazette notification to this effect was issued at 11:01 PM. </p>.<p>Lok Sabha had passed the Bill on Monday while Rajya Sabha had passed the legislation that seeks to grant citizenship to persecuted non-Muslims from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.</p>
