Campaigning in the eight Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh which will be going to polls in the first phase of polling on Thursday came to an end on Tuesday evening.

The eight seats include Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Kairana, Bijnore, Saharanpur and Meerut.

An estimated 1.5 crore electorate would decide the fate of 96 candidates, who are in the fray on these seats.

While the BJP has put up candidates on all the eight seats, the Congress has fielded nominees on six seats leaving two for the grand alliance.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure free and fair polling.
