<p>New Delhi: Former RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das was on Saturday appointed the second Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.</p><p>Das will be Principal Secretary in addition to P K Mishra, a retired IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, who is currently serving as the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.</p><p>The order appointing 68-year-old Das in the new position said the tenure of Das, a retired Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer of 1980 batch, will be "co-terminus" with the term of the Prime Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier.</p><p>"The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Shaktikanta Das, IAS (Retired), as Principal Secretary-2 to Prime Minister with effect from the date he assumes the office," the order said.</p>.PM Modi should pay heed to his 'best friend' Trump's remarks on paper-ballot voting: Congress.<p>With a career of over 42 years in civil service, primarily in the areas of finance, taxation, investment and infrastructure, Das was the 25th RBI Governor and has also acted as India's G20 Sherpa and member of the 15th Finance Commission.</p><p>A postgraduate in history from St Stephen’s College in Delhi, he has also served as India’s Alternate Governor in the World Bank, ADB, NDB and AIIB.</p><p>Das started his career as an Assistant Collector in Tamil Nadu in September 1982 and rose to become Economic Affairs Secretary in 2015.</p>
