<p>New Delhi: The <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/cisf">Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)</a> has said it has extended an additional security cover to temporarily supervise cargo operations and in-line hold baggage screening system at 69 civil airports of the country under its counter-terrorist cover, officials said on Saturday. This will be in place till May 18.</p><p>The force's mandate is to frisk passengers and their cabin baggage at airports while the cargo and in-line Hold baggage screening system (ILHBSS) checking was handled by private security staff engaged by airlines and airport operators.</p><p>A CISF official said the latest decision came following a directive issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) on May 9 "temporarily" extending CISF's cover to these processes in direct response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack and the subsequent security scenario in the country.</p>.Govt tells media channels not to use civil defence sirens sounds in programmes.<p>"The enhancement of CISF's mandate is essential to reinforce security arrangements at all civil airports. The CISF has responded immediately and resumed oversight over cargo and baggage operations," the official said adding the force will also oversee operations and the security staff of airport operators for ILHBSS.</p><p>The official said the CISF personnel will perform random checks and oversee access control to these facilities.</p><p>Separately, the CRPF deferred all transfer and posting orders besides postponing training courses till June against the backdrop of the security situation involving Pakistan. It also directed around two dozen companies, comprising about 2,400 personnel, to move to Jammu and Kashmir for "bolstering" security of the border areas along with the BSF and the Army, sources said.</p><p>CRPF Director General (DG) G P Singh and other top officials, who are presently in Chhattisgarh, are also likely to travel to Jammu and Kashmir soon.</p><p>Earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had asked paramilitary forces to cancel all leaves and ensure "maximum" availability of troops.</p>
