"The Prime Minister has asked the state government to bring a detailed proposal on Bangalore's development and has promised to sanction funds," Yeddyurappa told newsmen after his meeting Manmohan Singh to greet him on his re-election to the post.
Indeed, infrastructure has been a key point of discussion between the two, with the Prime Minister also raising it with Yeddyurappa during his previous meetings. He has been particularly concerned over lack of implementation of urban development projects for which the Centre had sanctioned funds to the state under the Jawarharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.
During the Lok Sabha elections, AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi took up infrastructure as a key campaign issue to target the BJP government in the state, promising faster release of funds if the Congress-lead UPA returned to power.
