Darjeeling witnesses season's first snowfall

Reports said the tourist spots like Sukhia Pukuri, Lava, Jorebunglow, Ghoom and Tinmile in the Darjeeling hills are under a thick layer of snow. Jorebunglow reported 4-10 cm of snowfall, while Lava and Sukhia Pukuri recorded 2-3 cm each. Thick flakes of snow have covered the hill town since morning.

Regional meteorological officials said Darjeeling recorded a minimum temperature of minus 2.8 degrees Celsius on Monday. The higher reaches of the Tiger Hill (8,500 ft) experienced moderate snowfall, while there was heavy snowfall at Sandakhphu (12,000 ft).
