The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday took possession of a farmhouse belonging to beleaguered industrialist Vijay Mallya. The farmhouse — valued at around Rs 100 crore — is located near Mandwa in Raigad district.

According to the ED, the property belongs to Mandwa Farms Pvt Ltd, which is controlled by Mallya, who is currently in the United Kingdom. The eviction notice was issued on April 25. Earlier, the ED had provisionally attached the property spread over 17 acres, adjoining a beach.

The provisional attachment order was confirmed by the adjudicating authority of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Mandwa Farms Pvt Ltd had moved the tribunal seeking a stay order, but it was not granted and the application was dismissed on May 16.
