Freedom fighters' problems to be addressed

Minister of State for Home Affairs, Jitendra Singh will hold a meeting of the Committee of Eminent Freedom Fighters in Dehradun on Thursday to address their grievances.

Various issues regarding welfare of freedom fighters, including merger of part of dearness relief with Basic Samman Pension, facilities to travel in Duranto and Garib Rath trains will be taken up for discussion, the Ministry of Home Affairs said in a press release issued on Wednesday.

“Simplification of procedure for transfer of dependent Family Pension after the death of Samman Pensioner and eligibility of additional dependents for family pension will be discussed,” the release said.

The Ministry said the Committee of Eminent Freedom Fighters was reconstituted on April 4, 2012, under the chairmanship of Singh. The members of the panel are  M B Mehta, D K Das, Ramadhar Tiwari, Mandadapu Satyanarayana and Pandurang R S Kankolienkar,  to name a few.
