Delhi University Teachers Association members along with university employees today carried out a protest march from the Faculty of Arts to the residence of Vice Chancellor Dinesh Singh in North Campus here demanding his resignation and immediate rollback of the four-year undergraduate programme.

"Delhi University's VC is playing with the future of students. The FYUP should be scrapped and admission process under the three-year undergraduate programme should begin," said Nandita Narain, President of DUTA.

She said UGC is a supreme body and its orders should be followed by the DU VC. "Government and UGC should immediately remove the VC who is acting on his whims. We will not sit silent till our demands are met," Narain added.

The members of DUTA also alleged that the VC has threatened the teachers not to speak out against him.

Students under the banner of All India Students' Association (AISA) and Students' Federation of India (SFI) also participated in the protest.

Narain said DUTA has written a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee, who is also DU Visitor, seeking his intervention to break the impasse over controversial FYUP, removal of its vice chancellor and a probe into the "misgovernance" of the academic functioning.
