Gujarat IPS officer Abhay Chudasama resigns months before superannuation

Ahmedabad: Senior IPS officer Abhay Chudasama resigned from the service about months before his superannuation. The officer of Additional Director General of police (ADGP) rank is currently posted as Principal of Karai Police Training Academy in Gandhinagar.

Chudasama confirmed to Deccan Herald that he had tendered his resignation but didn't ascribe any reasons behind seeking voluntary retirement nearly seven months before his retirement.

The 1999-batch IPS officer Chudasama was at the centre of controversy during the CBI investigation into the Sohrabuddin Shaikh encounter case. He was arrested by the CBI in 2010 and four years later he was discharged by a special CBI court and was reinstated by the government.

In 2023, he was transferred to Karai Police Academy from the post of Gandhinagar Range Inspector General. Last year he was promoted to ADGP rank and remained as the Principal of the academy.

In the past one year, he was seen attending several social events where he opined that he was not going to join politics ever. In another event, he had said how Rajputs were not united as a community.
