A Muslim youth at Virar in Palghar district has complained to the police after he was labelled a terrorist in a WhatsApp message that went viral. Saeed Khan (30) on Tuesday went to the Virar police station to complain against the message that showed him with a friend Khashid Khan on a bike with the message that he is a terrorist.

The message could not have come at a worse time, as security in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) was tightened after a terror alert in Uran in Raigad district. Saeed Khan, accompanied by wife and four children, held a placard in front of the police station that read “My name is Saeed Sher Ali Khan. I am not terrorist”.

Currently unemployed, Khan had owned a tempo that was torched six months ago due to parking issues. He also said his landlord is asking an additional rent of Rs 2,000. “Everyone began to look at me suspiciously after the photo went viral,” Khan told local reporters.
