According to police, three men obtained the keys of the building of the finance company from security guard Kariyanna by showing their identity cards around 9 pm. They tied his hands and gagged him, before entering the building. They destroyed the security devices and made away with the valuables and cash kept in the lockers. Kariyanna managed to reach the police station by 11 pm and alerted them.

“The intruders have opened the locker after destorying the security system. They have cut off the wires to the siren. It indicates that they were well aware of the security arrangement and hence the role of insiders cannot be ruled out,” Manager Satish said. He added that as per rules, the keys shouldn’t be handed over to anyone, even to the security chief of the bank, after 6 pm.
