<p>Udupi: Manipal police arrested a 26-year-old man on the charges of murdering his mother. </p><p>According to the police, the victim is Padmabai (45) and arrested is Eesha Naik. </p><p>Initially, it was considered to be a suspicious death but preliminary postmortem report confirmed that she was murdered. </p><p>Investigation revealed that 45-year-old Padmabai was murdered by her son, Eesha Naik, allegedly over financial reasons and domestic disputes. The suspected Eesh has been taken into custody.</p><p>According to the complaint filed by Padmabai’s sister, Shilpa, the deceased was living with her son and daughter-in-law. On the night of June 18 around 9 pm, during a phone call with the complainant, Padmabai reportedly expressed discomfort, stating she was experiencing severe back pain and was unable to sit up. </p><p>Another sister, Meerabai, had reportedly suggested taking her to a private doctor in Malpe the next day, but Padmabai initially declined due to financial constraints. Meerabai then offered to pay, and Padmabai agreed.</p> .<p>Later that night, at around 9:24 pm, Padmabai’s son, Eesha Naik, called Shilpa requesting Rs 1,000 for medical assistance. Though Shilpa agreed, the transaction failed. </p><p>The following morning, Eesha called Shilpa again, informing her that Padmabai was unresponsive. The family rushed her to District Government Hospital in Ajjarkad, Udupi, where doctors declared her dead. Doctors reportedly noticed reddish marks around her neck, raising suspicion of strangulation. </p><p>Based on these observations, police suspected foul play and registered a case under Unnatural Death Report at Manipal Police Station under Section 194(3)(iv) of the BNSS.</p><p>A postmortem was conducted at Kasturba Hospital’s Forensic Medicine Department in Manipal. On June 21, doctors submitted a preliminary report suggesting that Padmabai was murdered by unknown individuals with malicious intent sometime between 9:22 pm on June 18 and 9:45 am on June 19.
