<p class="rtejustify">Floods in river Cauvery due to heavy rains in the region have inundated around 500 acres of agricultural land in Srirangapatna taluk. The river is in spate due to discharge of 1.5 lakh cusecs of water from the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">Tahsildar D Nagesh said that around 500 acres of agricultural land at Srinivas Agrahara, Maralagala, Ganjam, Doddapalya, Chikkapalya, Hangarahalli, and Mahadevapura villages have been inundated.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">The water from the river is flowing into trenches around historical Srirangapatna fort. The Vivekananda Ramakrishna Ashram near Wellesley bridge is submerged. Nimishamba temple in Ganjam, other temples and changing rooms near Cauvery Sangama, Dodda Gosaighat, Chikka Gosaighat and other places have also been submerged.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">According to Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Executive Engineer Basavarajegowda, the discharge from the dam has been increased to 1.50 lakh cusecs from 1.25 lakh cusecs. The discharge has been increased due to increased inflow to the dam.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">As the river is flowing above the danger level in Malavalli taluk entry to Muthathi Forest area has been banned for the next few days. People residing near the river have been asked to move to safety.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">Many areas in Hassan district are facing floods as the river is flowing above the danger mark at Ramanathapura in Arkalgud taluk.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">Continuous increase in the water level in the river has left residents in an anxiety state.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">Schools, houses, farms and paddy fields have been inundated. More than 20 houses in the low-lying areas have been submerged. </p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">The Mysuru-Ramanathapura road has been closed for traffic. The Konanuru-Madikeri bridge is submerged.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">Victims from a gruel centre at the community hall in Ramanathapura have been shifted to Yatri Nivas and hostels as the water has entered the hall.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">Landslides have continued at several places at Shiradi Ghat in Sakleshpur taluk.</p>.<p class="bodytext rtejustify">The fuel tanker that had fallen into a 300 feet gorge on Tuesday night it yet to be lifted.
