A person in Arantodu relief camp, Angara (60), passed away due to heart attack on Saturday morning. He had earlier stayed at Madikeri relief centre and was shifted to Arantodu as his respiratory problem turned worse.

He encountered the problem Saturday midnight. He died on the way, while being shifted to Sullia hospital. The body was handed over to the family after autopsy. As there was no favourable condition at his house to perform the last rites, the cremation was held at Hindu Rudrabhumi in Sullia, with the assistance of local leaders and officials.

Jodupala received normal rain on Saturday. Meanwhile, search operation was carried out for the body of a missing woman in Jodupala. Four members from the family, including Manjula, were washed away in the floods. Three bodies have been retrieved, except that of Manjula.

The road-clearing work is being carried out on the Mani-Mysuru highway (Sampaje Ghat). The clearing works have been accelerated, Sullia tahsildar Kunjamma said.

Seven earthmovers are used in the clearing work. Also, 150 volunteers from Sullia have been helping the labourers, Charan, a volunteer, said. One of the volunteers said that it had become cumbersome to reach houses of the affected.
