Accelerate work on Upper Bhadra project, says minister

Chitradurga District In-charge Minister Venkataramanappa took the officials to task for delaying the completion of Upper Bhadra project on Friday.

Chairing a meeting in the office of Upper Bhadra project engineer's office at Lakkavalli, he said, “The project has failed to irrigate plateau region. Bhadra reservoir is overflowing but the Upper Bhadra project has failed to irrigate Chitradurga and Tumakuru districts.”

Although there is no shortage of fund from the government, the land acquisition process for the project at several locations is incomplete. The survey work is also incomplete.

Project Executive Engineer Shivakumar said there was a delay in the work on a tunnel at Hebbooru near Ajjampura due to a problem in the soil. Work on 88 metre stretch of the tunnel is pending.
