An effort to revive paddy cultivation

Kokkalemada Manju Chinnappa, United Kodava Organisation (UKO) coordinator, said that 80% of the production cost could be saved by implementing mechanisation in paddy cultivation.

He was speaking after taking part in the ‘Nada Mann Nada Kool’ campaign organised by UKO at the paddy field belonging to Chendira Madhu in Hudikeri near Gonikoppa on Monday. The organisation has been conducting the campaign the last three years, to encourage farmers to carry out paddy cultivation, he said.

Project director Cheppudira Karumbaiah said that the farmers have been using machines in paddy cultivation in these days. He also expressed hoped that paddy production will be totally mechanised in the next five years.

Agriculturist Chendira Madhu said that the problem of shortage of labourers has been solved with the adaptation of mechanised transplantation techniques.

Vinayaka JLB association leader and progressive farmer Changulanda Suraj, panchayat development officer Suresh and Athma Samsthe Hudikeri Hobli assistant Harishitha were present on the occasion.
