<p>Mangaluru: Former chairman of Karnataka State Minorities Commission Anwar Manippady has denied the allegations made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that BJP state president B Y Vijayendra had offered him Rs 150 crore bribe to suppress investigation into waqf properties encroachments.</p><p>“The allegations by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah against Vijayendra are far from truth. It’s Congress leaders who offered bribe to me. There was an argument over the Waqf property scam between me and Vijayendra when his father was the CM. I had insisted him to table the report by convincing Yediyurappa,” he told a section of mediapersons.</p><p>He said some of the former Waqf Board chairmen also had contacted him over phone to suppress the investigation. I had rejected all such offers and also made it public through the media then. Personal assistants of a Congress leader and a few Congress youth leaders had contacted me. I don’t remember their names,” he added.</p><p>“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reportedly made a Rs 150-crore bribe offer to cover up the truth. If Siddaramaiah has concern about minorities, then he should hand over my report to the CBI. I had submitted a 7,000-page report. If the CBI investigates, it will extend to thousands of pages. Such extensive irregularities have occurred. In the state, out of a total of 54,000 acres of Waqf property, 27,000 acres have been encroached upon,” he stated.</p>.Karnataka BJP Chief Vijayendra rejects charge that he attempted to bribe Manippady. <p><strong>‘Siddaramaiah perturbedby corruption charges’</strong></p><p>Meanwhile, BJP President B Y Vijayendra on Sunday rubbished Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and ruling Congress leaders’ accusations that he attempted to bribe former Minority Commission Chairperson Anwar Manippady to hush up his report on the Waqf encroachments.</p><p>“The Congress and Siddaramaiah seem to be “perturbed” by the allegations of corruption and scam against them, especially by the MUDA site allotment case against the CM, Vijayendra told reporters in Bengaluru on Sunday.</p><p>“This is a shameless government. The Congress leaders, ministers and legislators seem to have lost their mind. When B S Yediyurappa was CM and BJP government was in power Manippady had submitted a report on Waqf regarding irregularities committed during the previous Congress government and its leaders,” Vijayendra said.</p><p>“As the then Chief Minister’s son, why should I go to Anwar Manippady’s house and offer Rs 150 crore? That too to save Congress leaders? Is there any logic in this (allegation)?”</p><p>Vijayendra said that he would respond to the allegations if raised in the Assembly, “By creating imaginary things, if they feel that they can make opposition and Vijayendra succumb to it, we are ready to take it as a challenge and respond to it.”</p>
