App to select tourist guides soon in Mysuru

The Department of Tourism is all set to launch a mobile app ‘Hola Guide’ to assist tourists find government certified guides in the district.

The decision to launch the app comes in the wake of increasing complaints about unqualified guides extorting more money from the tourists.

The district has around 60 government certified guides at Somanathapura Temple, Talakad, Nanjangud, Mysuru Palace, St Philomena Church, Lalith Mahal Hotel, Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS), Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary.

The app contains guides' profiles along with their experience and other activities. It also provide details about different tour packages, activities, fares and duration of the tours.

Tourism department Deputy Director H P Janardhan said: "The tourists can fix the certified guides using the app. After selecting the guide, the tourists can book the service and get confirmation."

"The app facilitates tourists to rate guides' services. The department trains guides who should renew license once in two years," he said.
