Awareness programmes on 'Childline Se Dosti Week'

The Childline-Mangaluru in association with PADI has organised various programmes as part of 'Childline Se Dosti Week-2018' across the city.

Childline Director Renni D'Souza said the objective of the week was to involve public in the ongoing campaign of child protection, to motivate public to protect child rights and to create awareness on Childline.

"Anyone can become an ambassador of Childline by calling up the helpline on 1098 to inform about children's problems and the atrocities committed against them," he added.

Awareness programmes will be held at Ganapathy High School, Car Street on November 16 at 11 am; in Hampankatta, Dr B R Ambedkar Circle, Balmatta, Car Street, State Bank Circle, Bunder, Dakke, Lalbagh and hotel premises, Garages, industry premises and apartments on November 17, 10 am and at KSRTC (bus stand) on November 18 at 2.30 pm.

On November 19, programmes will be held at various police stations at Kankanady, Pandeshwar, Kadri, Urwa, Barke and Bunder in the city.

As many as 30 children in each police station limits will visit the station and interact with police personnel and will also tie 'Suraksha Bandhana' on the hands of the police personnel.

On November 20, a programme will be held at Lions Special School in Surathkal at 10.30 am. Awareness will be created through street plays on children's rights and on other issues like child labour and sexual abuse of children.

On November 21, an essay competition on children's rights will be held at St Ann's School, near State Bank Circle, at 10 am.

Prize distribution programme will be held on the same day in the afternoon.

The inaugural session of 'Childline Se Dosti Week - 2018' was held at Netravathi auditorium at Zilla Panchayat on Wednesday. Awareness programmes were held at Central Railway station and Central Market on Thursday.
