The state BJP on Monday described the two-day Bharat bandh call as “illogical, irrational and politically-motivated” and urged people to carry on with their daily activities.

In a statement here, BJP state general secretary N Ravi Kumar said not even one issue – on the basis of which the call for the bandh has been given on Tuesday and Wednesday – is convincing and logical.

“Withdrawal of shares from the public sector units (PSUs) started during the Congress regime in the early 90s. On the other hand, the NDA government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken steps to strengthen the profit-making PSUs,” Kumar said.

The BJP asserted that it was the Modi government that had taken “concrete and meaningful” steps to implement the recommendations of the Dr Swaminathan Commission to determine minimum support price, but the Congress, during its tenure in power, had kept the report in cold storage for a decade.

Kumar said the call for the bandh was totally unjustified and did not carry conviction with the people.
