Renukaswamy murder case: Bengaluru police to challenge bail granted to actor Darshan, others

Bengaluru: Bengaluru police are likely to appeal the bail granted by the High Court to murder accused Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and others.

“Efforts are underway to appeal the bail in the Supreme Court,” Bengaluru police commissioner B Dayananda said. “A proposal on the same is being submitted to the Karnataka government.”

Darshan, his friend Pavithra Gowda and 15 others were charged by the Bengaluru police in the murder of Renukaswamy from Chitradurga. Renukaswamy’s mangled body was found disposed of near a stormwater drain in Sumanahalli on June 9. Subsequently, the police arrested the actor and his accomplices.

Darshan, Pavithra and others received bail from the High Court on December 13. He has been admitted at the BGS Gleneagles in Kengeri for medical treatment for “severe back pain”, on which grounds he was granted interim bail for six weeks on October 30.
