2 workers rescued from debris

Two workers were trapped for more than three hours under a heap of mud which collapsed on them on Cunningham Road on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred when a trench was being dug for laying a pipeline. The work was entrusted to a private firm. According to police, Arjun Singh and Anand Singh, the labourers who were working at the site were trapped after a heap of mud collapsed on them. The rest of the workers immediately alerted the police and fire personnel who rushed to the spot and rescued them after an operation which lasted for more than three hours. The two were rushed to a nearby hospital and are said to be out of danger, said a police official. 

Teenaged girl found dead

A teenaged girl was found dead near Hunasamaranahalli lake in Yelahanka police limits on Sunday morning. Police said that the identity of the girl was yet to be established. 

Police suspect that the girl, aged about 15 years, might have committed suicide. A bag was found near her body with medicines and a prescription slip. The body has been sent for post-mortem. 

Stabbed to death

A 50-year-old man was stabbed to death by a miscreant in Nagarthpet on Sunday evening. 

The deceased has been identified as Velliyappan, a native of Tamil Nadu. Ulsoorgate police said that he was residing in a rented room on SP Road and was selling jackfruit to make a living.

On Sunday evening, he had an argument with a man, which turned violent and ended up with the latter stabbing Velliyappan. 

The assailant fled the spot after a crowd gathered at the spot, police said.
