71 men questioned in drive against chain-snatching

In a special drive conducted in the central police division on Wednesday, 71 people who were previously involved in chain-snatchings were questioned.

Sandeep Patil, DCP, Central, said: “The drive was carried out across all police stations in the central division. Seventy-one people previously involved in chain-snatchings were rounded up. Their current activities and details were recorded and they were booked under section 110 (security for good behaviour from habitual offenders) of the CrPC (Code of Criminal Procedure). They will have to sign the bond by assuring good behaviour.”

Another police officer said the drive was carried out in the wake of the recent chain-snatchings. “This will help us keep tabs on the offenders and give us clues in connection with other offences,” he added.
