All for the love of films

'CARTE BLANCHE'

The Department of Media Studies, Garden City College, is organising a national-level film festival called Carte Blanche on October 27 and 28.

The event was announced recently by Kumara Jahgirdhar of Crisp Foundation, one of the sponsors of the festival, Manjunath M, HOD, Department of Media Studies and students Prabhjot Saini and Shreedhar Rangaraj.

Manjunath M said, “The festival is a platform for young and budding filmmakers to express their creativity and talent. It aims at educating the youth more on films.” Prabhjot Saini, a student of communication, Garden City College, said, “Film festivals help young filmmakers gain more confidence as they are often looking for a platform to showcase their talent.”  

Shreedhar Rangaraj, another student of communication, said, “Carte Blanche is not just a usual festival. It also helps the participants to learn the overall process of filmmaking.” The two-day event consists of specific categories like short films, ad films and documentaries.

Professionals as well as students can participate in the festival and be part of the panel discussions. Various workshops on film appreciation, clay modelling, cinematography and photojournalism will be conducted by eminent personalities from the industry. The Photojournalism Association will also exhibit their work at the fest encouraging the spirit of photography. 

 Fun events like ‘Shutterbugs’ and ‘Film Quiz’ will also be held for students to express their love for films and filmmaking.
