Anti-human trafficking workshop for RPF personnel in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A workshop on anti-human trafficking was organised in association with the National Commission for Women (NCW) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to train personnel in preventing, detecting, and responding to trafficking cases.

After inaugurating the event, V Sommanna, Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, said recommendations had been made to the Railway Ministry to appoint local persons at railway stations for better management of commuters.

He said precautionary measures had been taken against persons consuming alcohol and creating ruckus at stations, and such incidents had significantly reduced.

NCW Chairperson Vijaya K Rahatkar said that following a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Railways and the NCW, such workshops were being organised.

Vijaya said prevention, protection, prosecution, and partnership were the core principles for effectively combating human trafficking.

RPF personnel, station masters, ticket examiners, GRP officials, and representatives of NGOs working in the field of anti-human trafficking participated in the programme.
