Bengaluru auto drivers must recalibrate fare meters by October 31

Bengaluru: Autorickshaws in the city can operate without recalibrating their meters as per the revised fares until October 31, according to the Legal Metrology Department. 

The fares are set to increase by 20%, starting August 1 (Friday). The base fare will be Rs 38, and the per-kilometre charge afterwards will be Rs 18. 

The order on fare revision was issued on July 14 by the Bengaluru Urban deputy commissioner, who is also the Regional Transport Authority. 

In an order on Thursday, the Legal Metrology Department asked auto drivers to recalibrate their fare meters by October 31.
