Boy kidnapped and murdered in Bengaluru wasn’t sexually assaulted, say police sources

Bengaluru: The 13-year-old boy, who was recently kidnapped and murdered in Bengaluru, wasn’t sexually assaulted, police sources said.

Top sources told DH that the postmortem report has come back, and it showed no signs or evidence of sexual assault on the deceased.

Gurumurthy (27) and Gopi (25) were arrested on August 1 after police shot them in their legs for the alleged kidnapping and murder of Nishcith A.

Nishcith’s body was discovered in a deserted area in Kaggalipura on July 31, a day after he was abducted in Arekere when he was returning from his tuition.

Senior officers said that the motive behind the kidnapping was money, and the murder occurred as the kidnappers were worried about the child revealing their identity if he was let go. 

“Gurumurthy first met the woman a few months ago after she booked his car through a driver rental app. Later, Gurumurthy convinced her to call him directly whenever they had to travel. In several such trips, the suspect overheard the victim’s family speaking about real estate and such and hatched the plan to kidnap the child solely for monetary gains,” a senior police officer said.

The two suspects are currently convalescing at a Bengaluru hospital, and the police would seek their custody once they recover for further probe.
