CCB arrests inter-state gang

The special team of the Central Crime Branch has recovered more than 22 kilos of jewellery worth Rs 66 lakh by arresting a five-member inter-state gang of criminals.

The arrested are: Harish Kumar, 36, a resident of Lakkavalli village in Bhadravathi taluk; Santosh, 29, of Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu; Deepak, 30, from Bannerghatta; R Satish, 27, Hosur Road and Alexander, 31, from Bilekalli. 

The gang used stolen bikes to accost lone women and rob them at desolate places before absconding.

They committed such offences in 55 places in the City and Mysore. 
The City police had constituted a special team following an increase in chain snatching
cases.

Booty recovered

Stolen valuables worth Rs 1.80 crore were recovered by the CCB East Division police by arresting 14 persons, recently.

According to police, the crimes were allegedly committed in Bangalore and Hiriyur of Chitradurga district. The police had launched a special drive over the last two months leading to their arrest.
