A Canter toppled on NICE Road in southern Bengaluru’s Kumaraswamy Layout on Friday, leaving the cleaner dead and the driver wounded, police said.
The Canter was transporting MTR pickles from Jigani to a godown along Mysuru Road near Hosakerehalli when the accident occurred around 9.30 pm. The driver, Chethan alias Ravi, lost control of the truck while manoeuvring a left-hand curve near the Clover Leaf Junction at Sompura. The truck swerved to the right before toppling and plunging into a roadside gutter.
The crash was so powerful that it threw Dinakar Yadav, the cleaner, off the truck and crushed him to death. The driver sustained injuries and has been admitted to a hospital. The Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police have opened a case of rash and negligent driving and seized the lorry.
