Evaluation to go digital at BU

Vice Chancellor N Prabhu Dev told a press conference here on Tuesday that BU would be the first university in the State to evaluate answer scripts digitally. A high-speed scanner will scan the answer scripts and they will be assigned a dummy number. The registration number of a student will be unknown to the evaluator. Later, the answer script will be evaluated online.

The revaluation of answer scripts has also become student-friendly. According to Dev, the answer scripts of a student applying for challenge evaluation will be e-mailed to him/her. Hence, students would neither have to submit a photocopy of the script nor pay a fee. Besides, answer scripts would be published on the website, the VC said.

When asked about the cost of the project, Dev evaded a direct reply and said: “It cost us very little. Each script would not cost more than Rs 15.” Beginning October this year, as many as 20 lakh answer scripts of all subjects would be evaluated digitally.
