Ex-MLA approaches court over seized old currency

A former MLA from whose house cash in old currency was stolen has approached the high court seeking directions to deposit the amount in the bank before March 31.  A theft was reported at G K Venkata Shiva Reddy’s house in Sadashivanagar in the city where gold and Rs 1 lakh in old currency was stolen.  The police who investigated the crime arrested the thieves and recovered the stolen gold and cash. 

The petitioner, Reddy, had approached the court seeking directions to deposit the amount that was recovered in the bank before the deadline of March 31. Justice Anand Byrareddy directed the Sadashivanagar police to deposit money that was stolen and reclaimed in a nationalised bank in the court's bank account.
