Riyaz would frequent medical stores pretending to be a medical inspector and try to extort money. He would also do the same thing at hotels claiming to be a food inspector. He also extorted money from shops in the guise of a police officer.

On Thursday morning, he was at a medical store at Chikkbommasandra  morning and demanded for the receipt booklet. The store owner grew suspicious and informed pharmaceutical merchants’ association. He also alerted a few of his neighbours. All of them caught him and beat him up severely.

The genuine medical inspector rushed to the spot and clarified that Riyaz was an imposter . Riyaz was handed over to police who said that Riyaz had collected Rs 2,000 from a hardware shop before he tried the same trick with the medical store.
