<p>Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister G Parameshwara laid the foundation stone for the construction of an arch in Vijayanagar near Mysore Bank Circle on Friday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Many pro-Kannada organisations had been asking the government to build an arch in Vijayanagar for a long time. The project will be taken up by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).</p>.<p class="bodytext">Mayor R Sampath Raj said: “The Mysore Bank Circle has been known for its numerous protests for the growth of Kannada language and this arch will stand as a testimony to represent the history and culture of the Vijayanagara dynasty.”</p>.<p class="bodytext">“The arch coming up near the Cauvery Bhavan for Vijayanagar will help beautify the place. The work will be completed in six month’s time,” tweeted G Parameshwara. Pro-Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj was also present during the programme.</p>
