<p>Bengaluru: An unidentified gang targeted a gated society in Avalahalli on Bengaluru's eastern outskirts twice within 20 days, stealing gold and a motorcycle, the police said.</p>.<p>The recently developed gated society comprises about 25 to 30 houses, according to the police.</p>.<p>The break-ins occurred around 1 am on December 29 and January 18, an investigator revealed.</p>.Gang held for selling drugs near Avalahalli apartment.<p>While the victims have yet to provide an estimate of the stolen valuables, the suspects’ modus operandi involved identifying locked houses in the evening and breaking into them late at night.</p>.<p>The gang, believed to comprise three members, arrived in a white car and parked it outside the society’s compound. The suspects then scaled the fence and broke into houses, the police said.</p>.<p>“After the first complaint, we held a meeting and suggested safety measures, such as appointing a security guard for the society. However, these steps were still under consideration,” an officer told <span class="italic">DH</span>.</p>.<p>The officer also noted that a resident had spotted one of the suspects in the society. However, by the time she alerted others, the suspects had fled. Six hours later, around 1 am, the same suspects returned and broke into a house adjacent to the one they had previously targeted.</p>.<p>“To conceal their identity, the suspects replaced the car’s number plate with a fake one. We traced the car and discovered that they had been moving around KR Puram and nearby areas,” the officer added.</p>.<p>One suspect also stole a high-end motorcycle parked outside the house they broke into. The police tracked the gang crossing the Tamil Nadu border and are pursuing them.</p>.<p>So far, three cases of house break-in theft (HBT) have been registered against the suspects — two in Avalahalli and one in the city police limits.</p>
