The Authority had been earlier told to chalk out a plan for preservation of lakes in the City.
The commissioners of Bangalore Development Authority and Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, secretaries of Lake Development Authority and Karnataka Slum Clearance Board and chief engineer of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board are the other members of the committee.

The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice A S Bopanna had constituted the committee while hearing a batch of public interest litigations seeking directions to the government for preservation and restoration of lakes in and around Bangalore.

The petitioners alleged that the State government had failed to consider the report of Laxman Rao Committee on developing lakes in the City. They had further contended that several builders and private parties have encroached the catchment areas of the lakes.
