<p>Energy Minister KJ George, who inspected the Bidadi waste-to-energy plant on Tuesday, said that he would soon convene a meeting with senior BBMP officials to ensure cleanliness at the plant.</p><p>George said it was important to address the odour issue at the plant and improve maintenance.</p> .<p>"We must act swiftly to ensure that the foul odour does not cause inconvenience to the nearby residents. I have instructed officials to use odour-control chemicals daily,” he said.</p> .<p>Waste is transported in trucks from various parts of the city to the power generation unit, where it is utilised. However, there have been complaints that foul odour arises when the trucks unload the waste and leave. Hence, George directed the officials to provide cleaning facilities within the premises to clean the trucks before they leave after unloading.</p><p>"We will hold a meeting with senior officials from the BBMP and the Energy Department, along with officials from the private company managing the unit, to discuss the issues regarding the waste and operation of the unit by private contractors,” he said.</p>
