<p>Bengaluru: HSR Citizen Forum organised two eco-friendly initiatives at the Sri Varasiddhi Vinaya Temple premises, located in HSR Layout on Saturday.</p>.<p>Around 100 residents actively participated in the collection and recycling of old divine photos and idols of deities.</p>.<p>“Community members brought in old photographs to be responsibly recycled, highlighting the importance of proper disposal and waste management,” the forum said in a press release.</p>.<p>GoPals, an NGO, engaged the participants in a hands-on workshop where they learned how to make eco-friendly lamps (Go Maya Deepa) using cow dung. The session demonstrated the benefits of using natural materials for creating biodegradable products, including sustainable diyas and tooth powder, while also emphasising the value of native cows in eco-friendly practices.</p>.<p>According to the forum, the initiatives sparked the creation of a unique culture around the adoption of old divine photos and idols.</p>.<p>“The event not only provided a learning experience for the participants but also allowed them to actively contribute to environmental sustainability,” the forum members stated in a press release. A traditional Visarajana Pooja was also conducted. </p>
