<p>Police said, one Veeresh, had gone near Srirampura tank bund to answer nature’s call, when he noticed a bronze idol floating. Curious, he picked it and soon found few other idols in the lake. <br /><br />He went on digging and found several bronze idols and ornaments. He informed others, who rushed to the lake and joined him in digging out the idols. They also alerted the police. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is implementing a project to rejuvenate the lake. They had cleaned a portion of the lake recently, after which the waterlevel had come down.<br /><br />Most of the idols are made up of bronze and are of different sizes. There are a few stone idols as well. There are idols of Nataraj, Lakshmi, Ugranarasimha and Ganesha. “We suspect that some people stole them and threw them in the lake. Probably, they wanted to retrieve them and sell them later. We have contacted the Department of Archaeology to ascertain if the idols are antique artefacts. We are also investigating as to who threw them,” police said.<br /><br />Held for molestation<br />A 29-year-old garment factory supervisor was arrested on a charge of molestation in HSR Layout on Tuesday. <br />The accused, Manjunath working for Shahi Exports, Belandur, was playing the fool with a fellow tailor. Sources said, after promotion, Manjunath had began allegedly harassing girls in the factory. Following this, a 20-year-old married employee attempted suicide. <br />However, her husband and her brothers saved her and she narrated the supervisor’s harassment. Her family membres landed at the factory, caught hold of Manjunath and vented out their anger. Timely arrival of cops saved the accused and they whisked him away. <br /><br />Thief held at IISc<br />On Tuesday night, the patrolling security staff of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) nabbed a sandalwood thief and handed him over to the police.<br />The accused Venkatesh, (40), was from Venkenahalli in Kortagere, Tumkur district. He confessed to have been into sandal wood smuggling for the last two years. He, along with Rangaswamy, were involved in series of thefts in the city. However, Rangaswamy managed to escape. Interestingly, Venkatesh revealed that the stolen goods were being received by a Sesadripuram resident, Pyara Lal,who lives near the police station. He said, the receiver pays around Rs 1,500 per kg of sandalwood. <br /><br />Cab driver murdered<br />A 30-year-old cab driver’s decomposed body was found tucked in his car near Hoskur Gate on Tuesday evening.<br />The deceased, Preetham, was a resident of Venkateshwara Layout, BTM 1st Stage. He left home on Sunday night around 10.30pm and never returned. <br />Interestingly, the family members lodged a missing complaint on Tuesday morning. The police said, an injury mark on the chest is evident. Revenge and love angle are not being ruled out.<br /><br />Two convicted <br />The 5th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on Tuesday sentenced two brothers to three years imprisonment in connection with a case of dowry harassment. Ramesh (38) and his brother Channegowda (28), were convicted under sections 498 (A), 324 of IPC read with sections 3 and 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. <br />Ramesh, a resident of Sharada Colony in Basaveshwar Nagar was married to Prabha K C in 1995. <br /><br />On July 23, 2001, an argument over dowry broke out between the couple following which Prabha left home and started living with her mother.
