International Centre for Automotive Technology-III in Bengaluru

New Delhi: Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H D Kumaraswamy on Monday said that the third unit of the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT-III) will be set up in Bengaluru.

In a statement, he said Bengaluru has a rich talent pool and robust industry ecosystem for setting up the ICAT. The move is aimed at making IT city a global hub for advanced automotive and EV technologies, he added. 

"Bengaluru is the nucleus of India's technological innovation. By proposing ICAT Centre-III here, we aim to drive advancements in electric vehicles, autonomous systems, and next-generation automotive solutions. This initiative will not only boost the automotive sector but also catalyze developments in defence,  railways,  and sustainable technologies" Kumaraswamy said.

Earlier in the day, the minister visited the two centres of the ICAT located at Manesar near Gurugram and expressed happiness over their functioning. 

The ICAT provides quality services to the industry in all the domains of automotive and non-automotive development including powertrain, noise vibration and harshness, components, fatigue, photometry, tyre and wheel and passive safety.
