Letterhead of officer in DCM's office forged for land conversion

Bengaluru: A person has been booked for allegedly attempting to convert agricultural land in Mysuru’s Kesare village into a residential plot by misusing the letterhead of an officer on special duty to Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. 

The Vidhana Soudha police registered an FIR under BNS sections 336(3) (commits forgery, intending that the document or electronic record forged shall be used for the purpose of cheating) and 340 (using a forged document or electronic record as genuine) based on a complaint by Shivashankar S, the officer on special duty to the deputy chief minister. 

According to Shivashankar, the suspect allegedly used a letterhead bearing his name and wrote to the Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development Department, seeking sanction to convert the land. 

Shivashankar told the police that the suspect requested the conversion of five acres and 22 guntas of agricultural land in different survey numbers, including 348/1, at Kesare village, into residential plots. He noted that the request was sent sometime between August 1 and 28 this year. 

The police have filed an FIR and have launched an investigation.
