The problems at the power stations have worsened in the last two weeks. According to Bescom sources, the on-going repair and maintenance work at Bellary Thermal Power Station is expected to be completed in another three days.

Only five out of the eight units at the Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) are generating power. Added to it, there could also be a problem of short supply of coal. Besides, generation at Udupi thermal plant has also been delayed due to pre-commercial operation problems.

Almost all parts of the City are experiencing two to three hours of power disruption per  day, that too during the morning hours when power is required the most.

When contacted, Bescom Managing Director Tushar Girinath, he said he was not aware of the power cuts in the City.  “Please ask KPTCL about the power problems, I do not know why there is no power in the City,” he said.
