Madiwala market inaugurated

Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy inaugurated Madiwala market at the BTM Layout on Friday.

The first phase of the market with 88 shops has been built at a cost of Rs 7 crore. The complete market will have about 362 shops that will be built at a cost of Rs 35 crore.

Speaking at the event, Reddy said: "There is a quite a bit of history behind this market. There were only 37 shops functioning about two decades ago. Now, this place can be utilised by about 400 farmers, who can sell their produce here."

He also said that the market would become one of the biggest markets in the city.

Mayor R Sampath Raj, former Mayor Manjunath Reddy and BBMP ruling party leader M Shivaraju were present on the occasion.
