A 48-year-old man was stabbed to death over a trivial matter in Baiyappanahalli on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Murali, who worked at a bakery in Ambedkar Nagar. Police are on the lookout for Jayaraj, a painter, who is said to have stabbed Murali.

Jayaraj had gone to the bakery to buy cigarettes around 1 pm on Sunday. Murali objected to Jayaraj, who failed to conduct himself properly. However, Ranjith, the owner of the bakery, intervened and pacified them, police said. Jayaraj returned to the bakery around 9.30 pm, when Murali was closing the shop, stabbed him repeatedly and absconded. A few local residents shifted him to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival, the police added.
