The duo took the audience to another world .

The renowned sarod duo of Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan performed at St Stephen’s College, Delhi University on January 20, in collaboration with Spic Macay the evening came alive with their recital.
Amaan and Ayaan are the seventh generation sarod players of the illustrious Bangash lineage rooted in the Senia Bangash School of music. Their father Amjad Ali Khan was all of six, when he gave his first recital of sarod.

Taught by his father and guru, the great Haafiz Ali Khan of Gwalior, Amjad Ali Khan shoulders the sixth generation inheritance of this legendary lineage.

“These days people are not keen to listen to the classical forms of music existing in India as evey one is interested in Bollywood and western music. I am glad to have an exposure to such rich musical performance. It helps us to appreciate music better,” says Deepak Kumar, a student.
It isn't easy to be sons of Amjad Ali Khan, but Amaan and Ayaan feel fortunate to be born to the sarod maestro. They have not only carried on their abba’s legacy, but have created a mark for themselves.

The audience were treated to a two-hour musical delight and were left applauding the young artistes even after they left the stage. The duo too seemed excited to perform for the young listeners and appreciated their effort to listen to this form of music which is rarely appreciated among youngsters. Amaan and Ayaan were, however, unavailable for any comment.

Their popularity was further evident as the auditorium resounded with claps every time the sarod players presented an unusual musical blend. Richa Dev, a student, says, “These performances are an opportunity to provide a platform for not only artistes but also youngsters like us to appreciate an art form that is soon losing its charm. I am glad I was a part of this beautiful event.”
