Muthoot burglary: Nine arrested

City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari, on Thursday, said the six-member gang that had broken into the finance company at New Tippasandra, on the night of June 2, have been arrested. Two vehicles and weapons used in the crime have also been seized from them. The arrested include Nirmal Raj Kumar, Jaikumar, Baskaran, Das Prakash, Madivannan, Suresh, Setu, Manoj and Laurel.
While four were arrested from Delhi, the rest were arrested from different parts of the country, he said. Bidari said, “Five police teams had been formed to solve the case and had visited Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai, New Delhi and Punjab to gather clues.”
Bidari said this incident is an eye-opener to finance companies. Also, it is a cause of worry as lax security was one of the cause responsible for crime. “We plan to submit a proposal to the government asking private companies to compulsorily install CCTVs and hire an armed guard.”
Police also said that the prime accused Nirmal Kumar, a building contractor and a network programmer by profession had undergone huge loss in his business. He was looking for avenues to make up his loss. A former borrower at Muthoot Finance, he was tempted to loot  owing to lax security at the company.
